Airdrop: The Ultimate Guide

Do you want to send photos, videos, locations, contacts, or more to another iPhone, iPad, or Mac? Airdrop makes it easy!

Airdrop is a feature that allows Mac and iOS devices to wirelessly share files with each other with minimal fuss. Usually when you want to share a photo with someone, you send it or email it. The requirement is that both devices must come from Apple.

Airdrop is a fast and efficient way to share files and images with contacts. You can send multiple items to nearby Apple devices at once via Bluetooth. But you need to know how to open an airdrop on an iPhone, iPad or Mac to get started.

Once it’s turned on, you can share files with other Apple devices. Airdrop is useful to send a collection of photos to a friend or quickly move the pdf from your MacBook to your iPhone.

For example, when I just worked with a friend on a dozen photos, I can launch them all in seconds. When you have fallen into the air, you can send all sorts of files to other iPhones, iPads and even macos computers.

If you’re using an iOS mobile device or a Mac, here’s how to activate airdrop.

How to use airdrop

Open the app and click the Share or Share button. If you share photos from the Photos app, swipe left or right and select multiple photos.

Click the airdrop user you want to share with. Or you can use airdrop between your own Apple devices. Haven’t seen airdrop users or your other devices?

How to accept an airdrop

When someone uses an airdrop to share something with you, you’ll see an alert with a preview. You can click OK or Reject.

If you click OK, the airdrop will be sent through the same application you send. For example, photos are displayed in Safari’s open photo app and website. The app link opens in the app store so you can download or purchase the app.

If you air something, like photos from your iPhone to your Mac, to your Mac, you won’t see the option to accept or reject, but it’s automatically sent to your device. Just make sure both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.
